Explore the Nordic initiative to utilize public procurement as a tool for creating circular and sustainable furniture. This sub-project aims to mitigate the adverse environmental impacts of mass-produced furniture.
Overview
Reducing climate impact in furniture procurement
Many organizations have significant potential to reduce their climate emissions through circular and climate-friendly furniture procurements. While challenging for a single organization, this project provides a platform for collaboration, learning and exchanging experiences.
Nordic Circular Furniture Dialogue Conference
In December 2021, we hosted the Nordic Circular Furniture Dialogue Conference, bringing together public buyers and market actors. The conference aimed to enhance knowledge about circular furniture and facilitate the exchange of circular solutions and procurement needs. A follow-up survey revealed that participation led to public procurement for five public buyers.
Big Buyers Network
We have established a Big Buyers network to share experiences and collaborate on circular furniture procurement. This group will continue to work together, identifying areas for closer cooperation and facilitating sustainable procurement practices.
